Laurie Ann Lehmann-Bybyk

Laurie is a former Registered Psychologist and experienced public‑sector leader with more than 30 years’ experience across governance, disability services, guardianship, rehabilitation, mental health and community‑focused oversight. Her career spans frontline practice, complex decision‑making environments and senior roles in state government, giving her a rare blend of operational insight and governance capability.

She holds a Master of Business Administration, a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Psy chology and Sociology, and a Graduate Certificate in Public Sector Management, and is an accredited NDIS Quality Auditor.

Laurie’s practice is grounded in ethical decision‑making, trauma‑informed support and a deep commitment to autonomy, inclusion and human‑rights‑aligned practice. Her work is also shaped by lived experience, giving her a practical, empathic understanding of how systems affect people and families navigating complexity.

She specialises in NDIS Support Coordination (Level 2 and Specialist Level 3), psychosocial recovery, mediation, guardianship and administration advocacy and support and governance‑aligned consulting — including organisational risk assessment

Laurie’s career began in remote Northern Ontario, Canada, delivering frontline social services in small, isolated communities. After relocating to Australia in 1996, she worked extensively across remote Queensland and Western Australia — including Mornington Island, Mt Isa, Julia Creek, Kalgoorlie, the Pilbara and the Kimberley — in roles spanning child protection, mental health, rehabilitation, public‑sector oversight and native title negotiation and mediation.

She has held leadership positions including:

• Senior Guardian, WA Office of the Public Advocate
• Director of Projects, WA Office of the Inspector of Custodial Services
• Specialist Support Coordinator
• Accredited NDIS Quality Auditor
• Team Lead, Psychosocial Recovery and Rehabilitation Services
• Native Title Mediator across multiple WA government agencies and the National Native Title Tribunal

With extensive experience in culturally informed conflict resolution, guardianship decision‑making, organisational governance, disability sector quality and compliance, and mediation, Laurie is known for her ability to restore trust, navigate complexity and support individuals, families and organisations through challenging transitions.

Her work reflects a clear purpose: building inclusive, trustworthy systems that empower people, strengthen families and support organisations to operate with clarity, accountability and confidence.
